Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In order to implement policy to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the Republic of Korea, an amnesty campaign was launched to continue between July 10 and October 3 to help illegal immigrants leave the country on their own and remain except from re-entry ban.
The immigrants with expired visa date of less than 5 years will be exempt from re-entry ban, while the immigrants who overstayed in the Republic of Korea for more than 5 years will be banned for one year. Furthermore, the illegal immigrants and their employers will be exempt from penalty as well.
However, according to the Immigration Service of the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Justice, the immigrants with criminal offence of passport contradiction, such as forged passport, false identity, unauthorized and illegal entry, and deported as caught by the immigration service will not benefit from the campaign. And the re-entry ban will last for 5 years regardless of the period of overstaying.
