Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the sidelines of his visit to the Russian Federation to attend the Third Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir V.Putin on September 7.
Present at meeting were D.Ganbat, Minister for Road and Transport of Mongolia, B.Delgermaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation, Z.Enkhbold, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office and B.Battsetseg, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
President of Russia V.Putin, in the beginning of the meeting, mentioned the ongoing joint projects and programs are becoming examples of achievements of the bilateral ties in recent years. He expressed the willingness to broaden cooperation with Mongolia in the agriculture, especially in improving health of livestock and infrastructure development. Furthermore, Russia has been paying attention to the agreement on discounted tariff for transit transport and renovation in the Ulaanbaatar Railways joint venture, he noted.
Mr. Putin also pointed out that his country is willing to support Mongolia by all means for preparing and organizing the Children of Asia International Sport Games expected in Mongolia in 2020.
President Battulga said he wants to activate and upgrade ties with Russia, and put forward certain proposals. For instance, the President proposed to carry the renovation at the Mongolian-Russian Joint Ulaanbaatar Railways Venture on funding of a loan from Russia in rubles, and finalize the agreement on discounted tariff for Mongolian goods headed to global markets through the territory of Russia. He also wants to widen the cultural and educational ties by increasing access to Russian language training and organizing joint humanitarian activities.
The Presidents then agreed to continue their conversation during the rest of the general session of EEF.
The same day, the Presidents will attend the EEF's extended session and the closing ceremony of the Youth Competition of Judo taking place in Vladivostok.
