Acting FM attends informal meeting of CICA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Taking part in general debates of the 72nd regular session of UN General Assembly in New York, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil addressed an unofficial meeting of Ministers held on September 20 in frames of the 25th anniversary of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The Chinese Chairmanship conference was co-chaired by Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of PRC, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, initiator of the conference and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and Gong Jianwei, Executive Director of Secretariat of CICA. The Foreign Ministers of 13 member countries noted that the CICA has important role in maintaining peace, stability and security of all-round cooperation in Asia. Foreign Minister of Mongolia Ts.Munkh-Orgil also emphasized a significant role of the CICA in discussing and solving urgent problems across the world, building trust, maintaining security, preserving environment, fighting against terrorism, organized crime, human trafficking and illegal use of drugs. He addressed further cooperation in broader spheres, such as economic integration, environment preservation and fight against non-traditional threats.
Furthermore, the member countries expressed their willingness to make efforts in widening the conference, strengthening multilateral cooperation in regional security, economic, environmental, cultural and interpersonal relations.

The CICA is an inter-governmental organization engaged in solving facing issues of the region, building confidence and developing cooperation between the member countries. Presently, CICA has 27 member countries, nine observers and cooperate with five international organizations.
