Mongolia and Japan hold joint seminar on urban development

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Construction and Urban Development organized a Mongolia-Japan joint seminar themed ‘Planning for Livable and Sustainable Cities’ on November 20.

Since 2012, the Ministry has been organizing forums and workshops on urban development in cooperation with corresponding organizations from countries like the Republic of Korea, Japan and Singapore. This workshop was held in connection with the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan.

The seminar gathered more than 100 attendees, including construction and urban development specialists from corresponding government organizations, 21 provinces and the capital city, representatives of private companies, educational institutes, non-government organizations specializing in architecture and construction, as well as Japanese delegates.

The opening ceremony was addressed by Sh.Lkhamsuren, Deputy Minister of Construction and Urban Development and Masato Takaoka, Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia.

Presentations were delivered under various themes such as bilateral cooperation in urban development, international and Japanese experiences and trends in planning of livable and safe cities in the 21st century, Mongolia’s urban development policy and development outlook of Ulaanbaatar.
