Speaker discusses Ulaanbaatar-Ankara cooperation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Speaker M.Enkhbold met Mustafa Tuna, Mayor of Ankara, the capital city of Turkey during his visit to the country, reported the Parliament’s Press Division on March 10.

The Speaker recalled his 2003 visit to Ankara as Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, when a Treaty of Sisterhood between the cities was signed.

While congratulating on appointment, Speaker M.Enkhbold invited Mustafa Tuna to pay a visit to Ulaanbaatar, expressing his confidence that the latter will actively work towards the intensification of cooperation between Ulaanbaatar and Ankara.

The Speaker emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in reduction of air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, reducing traffic jam and upgrading urban refurbishment.

Mayor Mustafa Tuna expressed his readiness to cooperate with Ulaanbaatar on re-planning, while noting that there are more opportunities to continue the ongoing works to reduce water and air pollution in Ulaanbaatar.

On the same day, Speaker M.Enkhbold visited the Chinggis Khaan Garden of Ankara and laid wreaths to the Statue of Chinggis Khaan, which is the first statue of the founder of the Mongol Empire to be built in a foreign country. Speaker M.Enkhbold forwarded the initiative to build the Garden when he was working as Mayor of Ulaanbaatar.

Moreover, M.Enkhbold gave an interview to Turkish Daily Sabah newspaper, in which he spoke about the current social and economic state of Mongolia, future goals, and his opinion on the development of friendly relations between Mongolia and Turkey.
