Mongolian peacekeepers rescue civilians in South Sudan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian peacekeepers serving in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) rescued 5 women after they were abducted by armed militants earlier this month.
 
Following the abduction of the women from a refugee camp in Bentiu city, assistance was sought from the personnel of the UNMISS Mongolian Battalion, led by Colonel D.Enkhbaatar. As such, the Mongolian peacekeepers successfully rescued the women and brought them back safely to the refugee camp.
 
Locals, international humanitarian workers and the UN staff, including Hiroko Hirahara, Head of UNMISS Field Office in Bentiu, thanked the Mongolian Battalion for their action.
 
The UNMISS Mongolian Battalion is the seventh batch of Mongolian peacekeepers in the mission.
