Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Mongolia Jean-Jacques de Dardel initiated the Swiss Ambassador Award to develop cultural and art exchange between the two countries and promote young artists of Mongolia.

The competition attracted 22 Mongolian artists, including young artist and photographer B.Namuun, who won the award. She was awarded a three-month scholarship at the Geneva University of Art and Design in Switzerland.

The 23-year-old photographer is a graduate of the Fine Art and Design school of Mongolian State University of Culture and Arts. Her first solo photo exhibition ‘OiR-Rio’ on Rio 2016 Summer Olympics was presented in 2016.

Ambassador Jean-Jacques de Dardel said “I noticed that art valuation is low and there is not proper support to artists in Mongolia. So first of all, I decided to personally support the arts sector of Mongolia. In order to develop the relationship between Mongolia and Switzerland, we have worked to support the arts sector. I initiated the Swiss Ambassador Award and it took two years to realize it.”
