First Conference of Cultural Envoys takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the First Conference of the Cultural Envoys of Mongolia.

With the aim to provide information, improve integration of cultural envoys and boost their relations and cooperation, the conference was held with the participation of over 20 Cultural envoys of Mongolia appointed from 9 countries such as Russia, Republic of Korean, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Federal Republic of Germany, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.

Moreover, representatives from governmental, non-governmental and international organizations attended the conference including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, the Government implementing Agency- Culture and Art Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, the Arts Council of Mongolia, the Mongolian Tourism Association.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg highly appreciated the contribution of Cultural Envoys of Mongolia for promoting Mongolian history, art and culture, tradition, tourism and Mongolia’s social and economic development internationally. She said, “As cultural Envoys have special rights and obligations, they make annual plan and have it approved by the Ministry. Also, they reports about their activities. Their activities are running differently. Thus, the conference is aimed at sharing information and motivating the envoys.”

"Moreover, the conference can be a leverage for the envoys to learn about foreign promotion policy of the Government of Mongolia, and make achievements in fulfilling their duties and promoting Mongolia abroad through art and culture," she added.

The Conference is intended to be organized biannually further.
In addition, there are a total of 39 Cultural Envoys of Mongolia around the world.
