Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The fourth China-Mongolia-Russia Think-Tank Forum was held in Ulaanbaatar on September 18-19, reviewing their activities over the recent years and exchanging views on further activities.

The event was co-organized by the Government of Mongolia, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the School of Arts and Sciences of the National University of Mongolia, the Development Research Center of the State Council of China and the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Themed under ‘China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor: Innovation and Co-Development’, the forum discussed more than 30 presentations of scholars of the three countries across three sessions.

“The concept of an economic corridor was originated from the Silk Road. It is named ‘Belt and Road’ by China, ‘Development Road Program’ by Mongolia and ‘Eurasian Economic Corridor’ by Russia. In recent years, it was institutionalized and its regulations and co-operational methods have been strengthening. We reformed the Think Tank’s principles and regulations at our board meeting held on September 17," said First Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences G.Chuluunbaatar in regard with the forum.

“Over 500 scholars from the three countries discussed numerous presentations during the previous forums, which made valuable contribution to the policy making of those countries and the establishment of the economic corridor. The Think Tank is setting their priorities and defining the scope of their operation. The trilateral economic corridor is associated with not only economy, but also various spheres such as culture, science, tourism, infrastructure and environmental protection.”

The forum featured a business meeting, during which businesspeople and scholars from China and Russia discussed cooperation opportunities with governmental and non-governmental organizations of Mongolia.

The China-Mongolia-Russia Think Tank was established in 2015 by international scholars. It aims to provide information regarding the establishment of the trilateral economic corridor. The Think Tank holds annual forum to discuss their research results. Its previous three forums took place in Ulaanbaatar, Ulan-Ude, and Hohhot respectively.
