Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 12th Mongolia-EU Inter Parliamentary Meeting took place on September 20. The meeting was attended by members of the Mongolia-European Parliament Friendship Group and some members of the European Parliament (EP), headed by Iveta Grigule-Pēterse, member of the EP and Chair of the EP delegation to Central Asia.

The sides exchanged views on stability of politics and civil service as well as human rights of Mongolia.

“We expect that the meeting creates an opportunity for Mongolia to gain European Parliament’s support in attracting investment to social and economic sectors, provide Mongolian citizens with visa-free travel to European countries and enjoy some discounts. Moreover, we aim to hold talks on increasing types of our export products to European countries as we are currently exporting just wool, cashmere and some sewn products due to import requirements of the EU.” said N.Oyundari, Member of the Parliament and Head of the Mongolia-European Parliament Friendship Group in her press statement at the beginning of the meeting.

Ms. Iveta Grigule-Pēterse noted ' Even though the sides have interest to expand economic and trade cooperation, sufficient results have not been achieved yet. Thus, we are addressing the reason and further actions to be taken in this regard.

The meeting concluded with a joint statement.
