BoM purchases 3.4 tons of gold in October

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Bank of Mongolia (BoM) bought 3.4 tons of gold in October, which shows 34 percent growth comparing to the same period of the previous year.


Precious metal assay laboratory and one stop shop were opened in Darkhan-Uul aimag on October 15 and Bayankhongor aimag on October 18, launching gold purchase in rural areas. The BoM plans to set up two more precious metal assay laboratories and one stop shops in two more aimags in 2019.


Between October 15 to October 31, the Darkhan and Bayankhongor branches of the BoM have received 33.4 kg and 16.7 kg gold respectively. Throughout October, the average price for a gram of gold stood at MNT 99.911.


According to the BoM, the gold purchase reached 17.7 tons as of the first ten months of this year, which shows an increase of 3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
