Mongolia-Laos intergovernmental commission’s meeting held
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ A regular meeting of the intergovernmental
commission between Mongolia and Lao People’s Democratic Republic on trade,
economy, science and technical cooperation was held on December 3 at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
The meeting was co-chaired by D.Sarangerel, Minister of Health and
head of Mongolian side to the commission, and by Dr. Bounkong Syhavong,
Minister of Health and head of Lao side to the commission.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on present state of
bilateral relations, reviewed the performance of decisions of previous
intergovernmental meeting and discussed further development of bilateral
cooperation. In addition, they emphasized a wide opportunity to develop mutually
beneficial trade and economic relations based on historical traditions and
experiences and enrich it with new contents.
During the meeting, Lao side thanked Mongolian side for
distributing 1050 heads of sheep as a humanitarian assistance of Mongolian
government.
Mongolian side put forward a request to establish a protocol on
food inspections, quarantines, veterinary and hygienic requirements in
connection with Mongolia’s supply of deep frozen and heat-processed meat and meat products to Laos.
Moreover, the sides concurred to support initiatives to build
contacts between provinces and cities of the two countries.
The Lao side expressed its support to Mongolia for its
participation in the Asia and Pacific regional economic cooperation and
entering ASEAN markets.
During the meeting, the sides signed the Protocol of cooperation
between the Ministries of Health for 2018-2020 and the protocol of 11th
meeting of the intergovernmental commission and agreed to organize the next commission’s
meeting in 2020 in Vientiane.
Moreover, Yo.Baatarbileg, MP and Head of Parliament’s Standing Committee
on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science, met with Dr. Bounkong Syhavong
and exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation.
