Archival exhibition of Mongolia-France relations opens

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the cultural agreement between Mongolia and the French Republic, an exhibition ‘Mongolia-France cultural relations: Past and Present’ was inaugurated at National Museum of Mongolia on December 5.


The exhibition of archival documents and rare photos that illustrate history of relations between the two countries is being co-organized by General Archival Authority, National Museum of Mongolia and the Embassy of France.

The exhibition displays many interesting historical documents, including a photocopy of a publication about Chinese Imperial force defeating Galdan Khaan of Oirat, published in the newspaper of Paris in 1696, a letter for receiving a permit from the Minister of Khuree upon arrival of French priests /1883/, a letter in which the Foreign Ministry of Mongolia declared Mongolia’s independence and requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France to establish friendly relations /1912/ as well as others.   


Moreover, photos namely ‘Mongolian students together with French families’ /1928/, ‘Yu.Tsedenbal in Paris’ /1949/, ‘Presentation of Credentials to Yu.Tsedenbal, Chairman of the Presidium of the People’s Great Khural of Mongolia by then- Ambassador of France to Mongolia /1978/ and ‘Mongolist J.Legran’ /1982/ are on display in the exhibition.


Present at the inauguration were acting chief of the General Archival Authority S.Enkhbaatar, Ambassador of France Philippe Merlin, senior diplomats and others. The exhibition is open till December 28.
