Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh attended the World Leaders Summit event on ‘Action on forests and land use’ on November 2.

State heads of over 20 countries attended the event to discuss policies to keep global warming at 1.5°C, updated climate commitments as well as partnership and cooperation.

During the event, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson introduced the Glasgow Leaders Declaration on forests and land use. Calling for joint efforts in reducing deforestation and land degradation, the declaration received support from state and government heads of 105 countries, in which Mongolia is also included.

President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh noted in his message, “By planting a single tree, it creates the condition for other plants and bushes to grow, absorbing carbon dioxide and retaining soil moisture - making a contribution to the preventive action being taken against land degradation and desertification. However, by planting hundreds and thousands of trees, it is possible to return an area to its former state, whereas by planting millions and billions of trees, it is possible to bring back health to an entire region.”

In his message, the President of Mongolia highlighted the importance of planting and growing trees in large numbers in tackling the issue for an entire region.
