Ulaanbaatar, April 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On April 14-15, 2024, professors and students from the National University of Mongolia and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology attended an ISR seminar at the Zuuvch-Ovoo project site of Badrakh Energy LLC located in Ulaanbadrakh soum of Dornogobi aimag.

With the support of the French-Mongolian Joint Venture Badrakh Energy and experts of Orano group, the main shareholder of the company, series of lectures and seminars consisting of 6 modules are being organized this year to present and explain in detail about ISR technology to professors and students from NUM and MUST.

This field practice is the 5th Module of the seminar series planned for 2024. The Module of the seminar on “ISR mining” was led by Ermal Kopliku, Project Manager of Badrakh Energy LLC. A total of 35 professors, researchers, and students participated in the seminar.

In 2021-2022, Badrakh Energy successfully performed an ISR Pilot test. The ISR Pilot is a first of a kind in Mongolia and was the occasion to introduce new technologies to the students and professors participating in the event. The In Situ Recovery technology is an environmentally friendly and non-destructive mining method. This new mining technology in Mongolia is attracting a wide range of interest, not only from teachers and students in the industry but also from the public.

Project Manager Ermal Kopliku highlighted: “After 4 theoretical modules that introduced the specificities of Uranium ISR mining to the participants, this visit allowed visitors to confront the reality of the operations, even if it is in a smaller size compared to the future operations. Participants of the seminar now have a good understanding of the technology, its impact, and the basics of future operations. It was a pleasure to welcome a group of visitors with a high degree of knowledge on their field and the willingness to confront new topics with an open mind”
