Ulaanbaatar, May 17, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Governor's Office of Ulaanbaatar City, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Asia Foundation will jointly implement the “Asia Resilient Cities” Project in Ulaanbaatar.

The ARC project is designed to improve the quality of climate-change-resistant infrastructure and availability of services, facilitate economic development, and strengthen the capacity to resolve challenges stemming from climate change and the environment. This 3-year project will assist Ulaanbaatar in solving its multifaceted challenges by promoting the sustainable development of Ulaanbaatar, increasing low carbon-emitting infrastructure, and advocating an eco-friendly stance.

First Deputy Governor of Ulaanbaatar City in charge of Economic Development and Infrastructure Sainzorig Purevjav said, “Within the scope of the ARC project, opportunities are presented to improve the capital city’s infrastructure, expand its economy, and study the good practices and concepts of other cities on climate change. The implementation of the project will facilitate comfortable living conditions, promote eco-friendly sustainable economic development, empower the workforce, and improve the quality and availability of infrastructure.”

Project Director of the JSI Asia Resilient Cities project Pallavi Gupta said, “Implementation stages of a project are dictated by the collaboration of citizens, civilian organizations, and public organizations. Currently, we are planning on how to carry out the project. After that, the project will begin in October 2024. This project is being implemented in five other countries in Asia, so there are opportunities to share their experience and develop together.”
