President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga is participating in the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit being held in in Brussels, Belgium.

Under the theme “Europe and Asia: global partners for global challenges”, the Summit is discussing ways to strengthen trade, investment, and connectivity between the two continents to ensure sustainable development and overcome climate challenges.

As Mongolia hosted the 11th ASEM summit, President Battulga made welcoming remarks right after the opening speech by President of the European Council Mr Donald Tusk.

President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga:

“There is an old Mongolian proverb “No decision is wrong that has been discussed by many”. We highly value the role of stakeholders in the ASEM process, including the discussions with parliamentarians, youth, editors, business, labor, and impact of the cultural festival.

It has been widely comprehended and recognized that in the 21st century, every development aspect should be people-centered. Therefore, although it is important to develop mutually beneficial cooperation at all levels between Asia and Europe, I would like to emphasize the importance of promoting the people-to-people interactions and maintaining and developing the ASEM traditions that allow both cultural and business representatives to meet and develop their ties.

In the context of ASEM, if we could acknowledge each other through art and culture and develop peace and harmony between religions and civilizations, the political and economic pillars will be even further strengthened.”

President Kh.Battulga has been holding bilateral meetings with heads of state and government. During his first bilateral meeting with Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, the parties engaged in an elaborate discussion about developing tangible bilateral economic cooperation and collaborating in the areas of scientific research and technology.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland Mr Leo Eric Varadkar paid a courtesy call on President Battulga on the first day of the summit. The sides exchanged views on a broad range of issues, including about giving priority to develop bilateral relations in the sectors of agriculture and tourism and mutually supporting each other in the international arena.

President of Mongolia also met with Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The Prime Minister of Vietnam spoke about the possibility of importing coal and main raw materials of textile products, including woolen threads and animal skin, from Mongolia and exporting sugar, coffee, vegetables and fruits to Mongolia.
