Mongolian Players Win Two Gold and One Bronze at FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship

Ulaanbaatar, November 14, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian players claimed two gold and one bronze medal at the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship held from November 4 to 14, 2025, in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia. A total of 289 players from 51 countries competed for 18 medals across the U1700, U2000, and U2300 rating categories. Mongolia was represented by 24 players.
In the Women’s
U2000 category, Lasker Club
player Khuslenzaya Baldanjantsan scored eight points with seven wins and two draws
from nine rounds, securing the gold medal. She became Mongolia’s 17th amateur world champion and earned the
country’s 20th gold medal from this championship. Two
years ago, Khuslenzaya won bronze in the same event.
In the U2300
category, coach of Sana Chess Academy Saikhanchimeg Tsogtsaikhan captured gold with 5.5 points, becoming a two-time world champion. She previously won
the world title in the U2000 category last year. Saikhanchimeg also became the
first Mongolian youngest woman to win the World Youth Team Chess Tournament in
2006. She currently lives and works in the United States, where she established
the Sana Chess Academy.
In the Men’s U1700 category, Dulguunjargal Dashdavaa won bronze with 7.5 points, becoming the country’s 40th medalist at the event. In addition, 13 Mongolian players placed in the top 20 of their respective categories. With these results, Mongolia finished second overall among the 51 participating countries.
