Herdsman-turned-photographer wants everyone to adore Mongolia
A photographer and livestock herder S.Tsengelbayar from Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China is the first Inner Mongolian photographer to ever throw an independent exhibition in Mongolia. S.Tsengelbayar named his exhibition, opened in Gamma Gallery in Hunnu Mall of Ulaanbaatar, “I am a Mongolian”. The exhibition wrapped up on June 7.

Lunch cost for students of special schools to be raised
A mid-day meal cost for per student, who studies in special schools will be increased to MNT2400, starting next September. The Government made this decision yesterday, June 7, considering that nutritious and nourishing meal provision for children,  particularly the children with disabilities, would influence positively their health and would be a vital support for their successful studies. Increase of funding would give a possibility to provide 40-45 per cent of daily nutrition need of children with the lunch.

Draft financing agreement to be consulted with Parliament
During its regular meeting on June 7, Wednesday, the Cabinet agreed to discuss with corresponding Parliamentary standing committees a draft financing agreement on ‘Development Policy program to support economic administration and Development policy funding-1’ between the Government of Mongolia and the World Bank’s International Development Association.

State-run company to carry out ‘Oil refinery construction project’
During its regular meeting on June 7, Wednesday, the Cabinet resolved that state-run ‘Mongolian Oil Refinery’ will execute ‘Oil refinery construction project’, with the required fund being allocated from the budget of the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industries.

JCI Asia-Pacific Conference opening in Ulaanbaatar
3,500 young leaders and business people from 51 countries are arriving in Ulaanbaatar to participate in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Asia-Pacific Conference 2017, which will take place between June 8 and 11. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a press conference today in collaboration with JCI. “The Ministry has been assisting in organizations concerning the visa issuance and diplomatic reception. It can be said that the preparation is complete. This conference is of great significance for Mongolia as it is creating great networking opportunities”, said Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg.

“Yak of Saikhan” festival held at Gurvansaikhan Mountain
‘Yaks of Saikhan- 2017” festival was held on May 27 at Yoliin am (Yol Gorge) of Gurvan Saikhan Mountains in Khankhongor soum of Umnugobi aimag. Some 1500 domestic and 60 foreign travelers and tourists attended the festival, which has been organized since 2012. Herders of five soums took part in the festival with their 500 yaks, competing in yak race and relay competition. Challenges named after soums, contest of best breed yaks and cows, games and contests, presenting customs related to yak entertained the audience.

MNT 50.5 billion issued for mortgage in May
The Government and Bank of Mongolia provided financial source of MNT50.5 billion to commercial banks for mortgage loans in May.  722 citizens were granted mortgage from this source. The Bank of Mongolia funded loans of MNT15.9 billion with its primary payments of its mortgage guaranteed bonds while 457 citizens mortgage loans of MNT34.6 billion was financed from the State budget.

Ambassador to Macedonia presents credentials
Non-resident ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr D.Batsaikhan presented the letter of credence to the President of Macedonia, Mr Gjorge Ivanov on May 30. Afterwards, during the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed greetings of Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj to Mr Ivanov.

SME boosting subprograms discussed
A discussion on subprojects “Made in Ulaanbaatar” and “Partnership of local industries’ was held at Tuushin hotel. These subprojects put goals to create jobs and improve competitiveness of trade, industries and services through implementing flexible investment and market policy targeted to small and medium enterprises and cooperatives, which run their activities in Ulaanbaatar, supporting producers in cluster, increasing sales of  products with label and mark “Made in Ulaanbaatar” by promoting them.

‘Mongolia sunrise to sunset’ marathon to run for cleaning vicinity of Khuvsgul Lake
The 19th 'Mongolia sunrise to sunset' international marathon will be held on August 2 at the shore of the Khuvsgul Lake. EcoLeap foundation has been organizing 42 km and 100 km trail run since 1998 and over 60 athletes from 21 countries take part in the marathon every year. Lake Huvsgul and the untouched forests, lowlands and mountains of the Khuvsgul National Park are a setting for one of the most beautiful runs on the planet, Mongolia sunrise to sunset.

Deputy FM B.Battsetseg works in France
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg paid a working visit to France. On the sidelines, she attended the Women and Green Growth international business forum and the Women of the Year award ceremony on May 27. The business forum was organized for the sixth time, with a main objective to increase contribution of women to economic growth and social development of Mongolia and establishing businesswomen’s network all around Europe. The above events attracted more than 200 delegates coming from Mongolia, France, UK, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, USA, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark and New Zealand.

Reconstruction of 289m Sonsgolon bridge commences
Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office, with the help of the Government of People’s Republic of China’s soft loan, is implementing projects to reconstruct and repair bridges in the capital. As such, a groundbreaking ceremony of the reconstructions of 312m long bridge above the Tuul River in Bayanzurkh district and 289.4m long reinforced concrete Sonsgolon bridge took place on June 5.

‘Clean environment’ monthly campaign underway
‘Clean environment’ a monthly campaign is being organized with an aim to promote newly revised Waste Law, approved by Parliament on May 12 and to start realization of the law.  The Ministry of Environment and Tourism announced to run the campaign from June 1 to July 1 at aimag, city, soum and district level with a prize fund for stimulation.

FDI in Mongolia reaches USD 178.1 million
Foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow in Mongolia averaged USD 178.1 million as of April 2017, which was down by 39 percent compared to the same period of last year.  As for the FDI outflow from Mongolia, it increased by 15 percent to USD 4.4 million. The net flow amounted to USD 173.8 million, which is 40 percent less than last year. Bank of Mongolia informed that the Balance of Payment showed USD 75.2 million surplus at the end of April.
