Festival of horse takes place
ВидеоThe ‘Horses of Mongolian Steppe’ traditional festival took place last weekend in Batnorov soum of Khentii province with objectives to promote the lifestyle of Mongolian herders and to save intangible cultural heritage.
This year’s festival gathered over two thousand experienced and young horse-trainers, bringing more than 2,000 heads of horse. Moreover, the festival was attended by horse-trainers from Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China, making the event popular abroad.
Organized since 2015, the festival is hosted by Batnorov soum that has the largest number of horse. It has the significant role in developing winter tourism, attracting both domestic and foreign tourists to rural areas and saving the tradition of nomadic people.
For entertaining guests, the festival held various events such as a picnic of horse-trainers, short-distance race and contest of naming horse colors and snatching lasso poles. Presentation of race horses, a fair of unique-colored horses and a fair of horse riding accessories were organized as well.
Famed as the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan, Khentii province is seeking to boost the tourism industry and infrastructure based on its natural landscape and historical sites.
