Employers highlight high productivity of disabled people

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ General Agency for Development of People with Disabilities (PwDs) is hosting the ‘Career Expo-2018’ event jointly with government and non-governmental organizations.

Human resource managers and authorities of more than 50 companies and 21 persons with disabilities looking for jobs are participating the event. The job seekers were also enrolled in the three-day self expression training. During the event they will introduce themselves to the employers, who will recruit the best candidates.

Director of the General Agency for Development of Persons with Disabilities Ts.Ganchimeg said that PwDs are succeeding in various types of jobs depending on their difficulties. “For instance, people with hearing loss operate well in bakery, packaging and garment industry. Their high productivity is related to the fact that they don’t waste time on talking to others. People with visual impairments are known best for massage therapy and have been successfully working as barista lately. There are six special schools for PwDs in Ulaanbaatar. In rural areas, PwDs are enrolled in lifelong learning programs,” she said.

Employers attending the event also emphasized the high productivity, performance and diligence of PwDs, expressing their willingness to hire more of them.

It is planned to establish Child development centers in six aimags with the support of the General Agency for Development of People with Disabilities and the Asian Development Bank next year. The centers will be responsible for education, professional development, training and rehabilitation of disabled children.

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd), the agency launched a month campaign, conducting the advocacy work titled ‘Changing the public understanding and attitude about disability’ starting from November 3.
