Foreign trade turnover increases by 15.9 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first 4 months of 2019, Mongolia traded with 130 countries from all over the world and total trade turnover reached USD 4.3 billion, of which USD 2.5 billion were exports and USD 1.8 billion were imports.


In April 2019, exports and imports reached USD 740.3 million and USD 480.5 million respectively. Compared to the previous month, exports and imports increased by USD 62.3 million and USD 32.3 million respectively.


In the first 4 months of 2019, total foreign trade turnover increased by USD 570.9 (15.4 percent) million, of which exports increased by USD 386.6 million (18.2 percent) and imports increased by USD 184.3 million (11.7 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year.


The 386.6 million increase in exports from same period of previous year was due to an increase of USD 171.0 million in bituminous coal and USD 51.4 million in gold, unwrought or in semi-manufactured forms exports.


The USD 183.4 million increase in imports from same period of previous year was mainly due to USD 48.1 million increase in mineral products imports, especially, USD 42.6 million increase in diesel imports, USD 9.9 million increase in machinery, equipment, electric appliances and USD 103.8 million increase in transport vehicles, their spare parts.


Exports of mineral products, textiles and textile articles, natural or cultured stones, precious metals jewellery make up to 96.5 percent of total export. On the other hand, 70.0 percent of imports are mineral products, machinery, equipment, electric appliances, transport vehicle and its spare parts and food products.
