City Mayor S.Amarsaikhan meets WB delegates

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On October 16, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan met with the World Bank’s Geospatial Information Management Team which has arrived Mongolia for a 10-day visit to assess the situation of geospatial data management in the country.


During their visit, the team is to hold meetings with stakeholders of geospatial data infrastructure of Mongolia, study geospatial information related projects, build capacity of location-based spatial data management, identify its benefits to Mongolia's socioeconomy, to give realistic assessment to the present situation and provide a recommendation on actions to be taken further.


At the meeting, World Bank’s senior land administration specialist Ms.Katherine Kelm said, “We are working on defining priorities and planning of projects and programs for 5-7 years. Socioeconomic significance is being defined based on indicators of citizen, public and private partnership. Thus we request the city authorities to cooperate with us by providing required information and expressing positions and suggestions regarding the projects to be implemented.”


In the course of the visit, the team visited the Administration of Land Management, Geodesy and Cartography of Mongolia to get acquainted with the results of projects implemented in directions of geospatial data infrastructure, land monitoring and urban development.

Mr. Amarsaikhan put forth a proposal to implement projects and programs to set comprehensive urban standards targeted to improving land management, urban planning and living environment of urban community.


In the conclusion, the sides discussed to cooperate in exchanging information within the geospatial data and came into a decision that next week the team would introduce its plan of action to be implemented in the capital.
