Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection (AFCCP) of Mongolia now has a database for identifying monopolies. With the database available, it becomes possible for the authority to register entities that monopolize the market and actions that violate consumer rights.

The database was established with the support of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. More specifically, the two organizations are implementing a project on strengthening capacity for supporting fair competition in Mongolia in 2019-2021. An opening ceremony took place for the database that will allow the AFCCP to digitize its operations in accordance with the ‘E-Mongolia’ program on October 6. During the opening ceremony, training also took place for the AFCCP website and online database system.

IDLO Project Coordinator D.Oyunchimeg said, “In the framework of the project, several software programs have been developed on resolving violations. Further down the line, day-to-day operations will become possible to be conducted using software, which can display various data and reports in real time. Another crucial part of the project is to develop a strategic document on affecting competition in correlation with existing legislation, regulations, and resolutions in Mongolia.”
