1,015 new cases registered, deaths from coronavirus exceed 100

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Daily COVID-19 press briefing for today, April 29, by the Ministry of Health, reported that 1,015 new coronavirus cases were detected in the past 24 hours across the country after a total of 11,145 PCR tests were performed nationwide. 


In specific, 864 new cases were confirmed in Ulaanbaatar city, one was hospital-acquired case, one case was imported cases from abroad, and 149 cases were detected in rural regions, including Zavkhan, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Arkhangai, Bulgan, Uvurkhangai, Gobisumber, Dundgobi, Gobi-Altai, Khovd, Selenge and Tuv aimags. As a result, the nationwide infection tally is now 34,623, with the cases registered in the capital city grown to 30,172. 


In the last 24 hours, 686 coronavirus patients were recovered, making the number of COVID-19 recoveries 18,719. As of April 29, a total of 4,786 coronavirus patients are being treated at hospitals in Ulaanbaatar city and the rural aimags. Among them, 109 patients’ health are in serious conditions, reports the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD), the primary healthcare organization in the country responding to the pandemic. Another 3,388 patients who are experiencing a mild disease are being treated at home while taking home isolation precautions. 


NCCD also reported five new COVID-19 related deaths, raising the country's death toll to 102. The casualties are COVID-19 patients aged between 37 and 89 years old, who were being treated at NCCD in Ulaanbaatar city.


As of 7 PM, April 28, a total of 782,314 people have received the first dose of vaccines against COVID-19, equal to 38 percent of the nationwide vaccination target – 2,067,292 adult populations– 60 percent of the total population of Mongolia. Also, 298,257 people have gotten their second shots. 


Since April 24, up to 70,000 people are being vaccinated in a single day in Ulaanbaatar city as well as the country’s exporting and farming regions, such as Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Umnugobi, Selenge and Dornogobi aimags. On April 28 alone, 65,240 people have been vaccinated in Ulaanbaatar city.
