Unified policy to be implemented for free economic zones and establishment of satellite cities

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 18, Speaker G.Zandanshatar held a meeting with members of the temporary committee on Ulaanbaatar city development policy and capital city authorities.
They discussed the implementation of the amendments to the Law on the Legal Status of Ulaanbaatar city that was approved on July 7 as well as works to be carried out in preparation for having the draft law on amendments to the Law on the Legal Status of Cities, Towns and Villages discussed at the autumn session.
At the start of the meeting, the Speaker highlighted the committee's role in ensuring the implementation of the Law on the Legal Status of Ulaanbaatar city, and organizing works in tackling the capital city’s pressing issues such as decentralization, traffic congestion, and tax reforms.
Furthermore, he also noted that he held a meeting with Head of the Standing Committee on Economy J.Ganbaatar and other corresponding officials last week to discuss creating the legal environment for establishing a satellite city near the new Chinggis Khaan International Airport located in Khushig Valley. After mentioning that he considers that certain issues currently being faced by Ulaanbaatar city will be resolved to a certain degree by establishing a satellite city with a free economic zone, he was informed about the progress of works being carried out by the temporary committee on Ulaanbaatar city development policy.
Following the presentation, Speaker G.Zandanshatar obliged the corresponding officials to accelerate works to hold discussions on a set of rules and regulations for the capital city with the participation of citizens and have it approved by the end of the year, and to implement a unified policy regarding the matter of free economic zones and establishing a satellite city.
