Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Nuclear Energy to Be Submitted to the Parliament
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, October 23, 2024 /MONTSAME/. During its regular session on October 23, 2024, the Cabinet of Mongolia discussed the draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Nuclear Energy and relevant draft laws and decided to submit them to the State Great Khural of Mongolia.
Since 1972, Mongolia has acceded to international treaties and conventions, including the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Agreement for the Application of Safeguards in connection with the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, and International Convention for Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, and has successfully carried out its legal obligations under these international treaties.
The Law on Nuclear Energy adopted by the State Great Khural of Mongolia in 2009 consists of eight chapters and 51 articles. In total, the Law on Nuclear Energy has been amended fifteen times, resulting in amendments to eight chapters and 38 articles and sections. The need for the draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Nuclear Energy stems from the amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia and major changes to social, economic, and legal relations in Mongolia.
In connection with the draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Nuclear Energy, the Cabinet of Mongolia has developed the draft Law Amendments to the General Law on Taxation, the draft Law on Amendments to the Investment Law, and the draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Companies.
