Emergency Officers Saved over 7000 Lives in 2024

Ulaanbaatar, January 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In 2024, 4,905 disasters and accidents were registered in Mongolia nationwide, and emergency service officers saved 7,890 lives and protected the property of businesses and citizens worth about MNT 360 billion.
As a
result of preventive fire warnings targeted to 42.4 percent of all households in the country, the fire damage decreased compared to the previous year, including the number of deaths by 18.6 percent, burned homes and apartments by 51 percent, and property damage by 14.3 percent,
amounting to MNT 5.1 billion.
A Forest and
Steppe Fire Prevention Training, and Research Center was established, and a number of new firefighting and rescue units were formed in the capital, Selenge, Dornogobi, Umnugobi, Arkhangai, Zavkhan, and Uvurkhangai aimags.
Moreover, at
the initiative of President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed
Forces Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, operations to retrieve
sunken vehicles from Lake Khuvsgul were completed. As a result, the ship “Sukhbaatar” and 11 other
vehicles and equipment were pulled out from a depth of 33.4 to 171 meters of the lake, and 50
tons of fuel, lubricants, and hazardous waste contained in them, reported the National Emergency Management Agency.
