National Championships Start with Judo Competitions

Ulaanbaatar, January 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The national championships, the most important domestic competitions ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics to be held in Los Angeles, USA, are about to start.
The Mongolian Judo Federation will be the first federation
to host its national championship, launching the competition on January 10, 2025,
at the Wrestling Palace of Mongolia. More than 250 athletes from 30 sports
committees and clubs have been registered to compete in the championship.
Athletes who win medals at the national championships will
represent their country in the coming regional, world championships,
international “Grand Slam” and Grand Prix competitions. In addition, this
competition is crucial for renewing the national team athletes.
On the first day, or January 10, 2025, competitions in
categories of men’s 73, 90, -100, +100 kg and women's 57, 70, -78, +78 kg will
be held. On the second day, competitions in categories of the men's 60, 66, 81
kg, and women's 48, 52, and 63 kg are scheduled, while on January 12, 2024, the mixed
team competition will take place.
The competition will follow the updated rules approved by
the International Judo Federation. On December 22, 2024, the Mongolian
Judo Federation organized a training course for the judo national team, sports
committees, club athletes, coaches, and judges on the updated rules.
The Unified National Championships between sports federations are
being held for the fourth year and 15 sports federations will organize their championships
within 10 days. This is the first time that the National Judo Championship is
included in the unified program of the competitions.
