Discussions Held on Launching the Fourth Phase of the 'Green Belt' Project

Ulaanbaatar, December 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Discussions were held on the possibility of launching the fourth phase of the “Green Belt” project in order to further improve the maintenance and protection of afforested areas and the tree nursery complex established under the project.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change reported that the matter was discussed during a meeting between Minister Batbaatar Bat and the Korean Director of the Mongolia-Korea Joint “Green Belt” Project, Lee Jung Geun, along with the Mongolian Director, M. Ganzorig.
The “Green Belt” project has become one of the most effective and sustainable forms of cooperation between the two countries in the environmental sector and has been implemented since 2007 in three phases over a period of 18 years.
During the meeting, Minister Batbaatar expressed his appreciation to the project team and emphasized that the afforestation and tree nursery activities carried out under the project have yielded tangible results and have become a positive model for the environmental sector. He also noted that during the Seventeenth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, to be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2026, Mongolia plans to present the exemplary and successful “Green Belt” project to international guests and delegates.
