Khuvsgul Leads Country in Livestock Numbers

Khuvsgul, December 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. According to preliminary livestock census results, Khuvsgul aimag has counted 5.3 million head of livestock, ranking first nationwide.
By type, the aimag recorded 2.4 thousand camels, 402.9
thousand horses, 669.8 thousand cattle, 2.2 million sheep, and 1.9 million
goats.
Compared to the previous year, the number of horses
increased by 7.2 percent, cattle by 6.7 percent, and goats by 84.6 percent,
while the number of camels decreased by 2 percent and sheep by 0.2 percent.
The number of households owning livestock stood at 22.2 thousand, a decrease of 2.6 percent from the previous year. A total of 34.6 thousand herders were registered in the aimag, of whom 18.8 thousand – or 54.3 percent – are men, and 45.7 percent are women. Overall, 50.3 percent of all herders are aged 35 or younger.
