Ulaanbaatar, January 14, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav met with more than 800 residents of Zamyn-Uud soum in Dornogobi aimag.

Land management has become one of the most pressing issues in the soum. Residents criticized the fact that land ownership registration is currently suspended and stated that even permits for land use are inaccessible, despite attempts to obtain them through official procedures.

Based on citizens’ appeals regarding land-related issues, Prime Minister Zandanshatar decided to establish a joint task force composed of the Independent Authority Against Corruption, the National Police Agency, and the General Intelligence Agency to conduct a comprehensive review of land allocation in Zamyn-Uud soum.

The Prime Minister also stated that the Government will focus on unifying the oversight system to address the lack of coordination among border, customs, and inspection authorities. Residents of Zamyn-Uud welcomed this position with appreciation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that reducing corruption risks requires launching a systematic reform process in Zamyn-Uud by improving coordination among border services, customs, and the free zone administration. As an initial step, immediate measures will be taken to reassess land allocation and organize land registration. He described this as the beginning of a comprehensive reform movement in Zamyn-Uud soum.

Representatives of drivers engaged in passenger and freight transport services requested a review of the current method of tax assessment, which is calculated based on the minimum wage. They noted that increases in the minimum wage automatically raise tax and fee burdens, creating significant financial pressure.

The Aimag Citizens’ Representative Khural has already approved a resolution reducing the tax rate imposed on drivers to 30 percent and abolishing the progressive tax scale. Prime Minister Zandanshatar reported that although the formal approval process of this resolution had been stalled at the relevant ministry, the issue was resolved at the beginning of the new year.
