Ulaanbaatar, January 19, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Summary of events for the week of January 19–25, 2026.

 

In Ulaanbaatar:

January 19: A press conference will be held at the National Statistics Office to present the preliminary performance of Mongolia’s social and economic indicators for 2025.

January 20: Sales of reserve meat to meet the capital city’s spring seasonal demand will begin at 410 locations across nine districts. 

January 20: The Department of Mongolian Language and Linguistics of the National University of Mongolia will commemorate the birthday of Academician Luvsandandzan Sh. and designate January 20 each year as “Luvsandandzan Day,” to be celebrated as an academic festival. 


January 21: A regular session of the Cabinet will be held.

January 23–25: The 8th National Sports Festival of Mongolia will take place in Tsonjinboldog.



January 23–25: The State Children and Youth Theatre will stage the world-famous musical The Addams Family, presented under an exclusive license.

 January 24: Mongolia’s three-millionth citizen was born on January 24, 2015.

 January 24: The Golden Cup Wrestling Tournament, organized by the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation, will be held.

January 24: The “Talyn Javkhaa–2026” Horse Culture Day will take place at the Chinggis Khaan Khuree Tourism Complex.

 

January 25: A regular wrestling competition for soum titleholders and young wrestlers will be held.

 

Ongoing nationwide events:

  • The 2026 military registration campaign is underway nationwide through the E-Mongolia system until January 23.
  • The “Dream Ice Rink–2025” at the Central Stadium Complex will remain open until March 10, 2026.
  • The exhibition “Traditional Mongolian Clothing and Ornaments” is on display at the National Museum of Mongolia until February 2, 2026.
  • Entries for the competition themed “Introducing Recycled PET Plastic Packaging for Food Use” will be accepted until February 2, 2026.

The Mongolian National News Agency MONTSAME is organizing the #AMINNUTAG video content competition among local media organizations, professional creators, and enthusiasts to promote and preserve local history, cultural heritage, citizens’ livelihoods, and traditions. Submissions will be accepted until March 1, 2026.  



January 24 – February 16: A Lunar New Year exhibition and trade fair will be held for the 10th consecutive year at the Expo Hall of Hunnu Shopping Mall.

 

Local events:

January 22–25: Provincial volleyball championships for U-12 and U-14 age groups will be held in Choibalsan soum, Dornod aimag.

January 23–25: The National Judo Championship for adults will take place in Khentii aimag.

January 24: The “Great Gobi Camel Festival” will be held in Gobi-Altai aimag.

January 24–25: Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the “The Sun is Closer on the Camel’s Back” Winter Festival and the 5th Camel Herders’ Conference will be held in Mandalgobi soum, Dundgobi aimag. 



January 24–25: The Uliastai soum table tennis championship will be held at the Western Region Athletes’ Olympic Training Center in Zavkhan aimag.

January 25: The “Darkhan Cup–2025” Ice Fishing Tournament will be held in Darkhan-Uul aimag.

January 25: A wrestling competition for wrestlers holding the title of “Aimag Nachin” will be held in Selenge aimag.


 Abroad:

-In Erenhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, the 7th “China–Mongolia Lunar New Year Exhibition and Trade Fair” will be held until January 25.

-The special exhibition "Mongolia: A Journey Through Time" is underway at the Rietberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, and will continue through February 26, 2026.
