Mongolian Para Powerlifters Win Three Medals in Japan

Ulaanbaatar, January 19, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The “2026 Japan National Para Powerlifting Invitational Championships” were held in Tokyo, Japan, over the weekend, where athletes of Mongolia’s national team won three medals.
Specifically, Hero of Labor and Honored Athlete of Mongolia Sodnompiljee Enkhbayar claimed the gold medal in the 107 kg category by bench-pressing 240 kg, with the National Anthem of Mongolia echoed through the arena. In the 65 kg category, International Master Amartaiwan A. also won gold by lifting 157 kg, once again playing the National Anthem to Tokyo. Meanwhile, in the 59 kg category, International Master Jigmed D. won the silver medal by bench-pressing 153 kg. As a result, they brought home the first international medals for Mongolia’s national team athletes in 2026.
This prestigious international-level competition, organized by the Japan Para Powerlifting Federation, featured athletes from Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
