Humanitarian Support to Be Increased If Needed

Ulaanbaatar, January 21, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Representatives of international organizations stated that they are closely monitoring the harsh winter and the upcoming spring livestock birthing season, and are prepared to increase humanitarian assistance if necessary.


At a meeting of the “Humanitarian Team,” organized under the leadership of the Secretary of the State Emergency Commission and the UN Resident Coordinator, representatives of UN agencies and the Mongolian Red Cross discussed the current winter conditions, weather forecasts, and the risk of dzud that may arise from difficulties during the winter and spring seasons.


Participants emphasized that accurate and timely data are essential for the rapid delivery of humanitarian responses. The UN Resident Coordinator noted that since last autumn, the Government and the humanitarian team have taken several early warning and preventive measures to reduce risks.


At the next meeting, the State Emergency Commission and relevant authorities will brief participants on the current situation, and humanitarian partners will exchange information on planned actions.
