‘World Horse Day’ to be Marked

Ulaanbaatar, January 22, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The “World Horse Day” will be celebrated on July 11-13, 2026. The Organizing Committee for “World Horse Day,” headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Gankhuyag Khassuuri, convened its second meeting and instructed the sub-working groups to proceed promptly with their tasks in line with the approved plan.
During the meeting, participants discussed a detailed action
plan and budget aimed at promoting Mongolia’s traditions and cultural heritage
internationally, developing tourism, and preserving, safeguarding, expanding,
and promoting the cultural heritage of the Mongolian horse.
The meeting also reviewed sub-working group plans to develop
livestock and green development programs based on nomadic culture, establish an
equine rehabilitation and complementary therapy center, introduce digital
infrastructure among herders, and repatriate Mongolian horses that have served
abroad.
According to preliminary results of the nationwide livestock census conducted last year, Mongolia has approximately 5.1 million horses.
