Mongolia, Germany to Cooperate in Agricultural Cooperatives

Ulaanbaatar, January 23, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The “Uilgan” cooperative from Tsagaan-Uur soum, Khovsgol aimag, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with the “Untere Spreewald” of the region of Brandenburg, Germany. Similarly, the “Shoshooloshton” cooperative of Darkhan-Uul aimag established a cooperation memorandum with the “Grossmar” cooperative.
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry (MOFALI) further reported that the parties have reached an agreement to implement a medium-term program aimed at training young professionals in the sector.

Agriculture Minister’s Conference and the 18th Global Forum for Food
and Agriculture held in Berlin, Germany, on January 16-18, 2026. He also attended
“International Green Week,” a premier exhibition that showcases trends,
innovations, and sustainable development solutions in the food and agriculture
sectors.
During the event, meetings were held with the Minister for
Agriculture and Food, Environment and Consumer Protection of the State of
Brandenburg, Hanka Mittelstädt, and the Minister for Agriculture and
Environment of the State of Saxony, Mr. Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch. The
parties reached an agreement to cooperate on identifying potential joint
projects in food and agriculture, improving the legal framework of Mongolia’s
agricultural sector, and introducing Germany’s traditional agricultural
cooperative system to Mongolia to enhance the economic and market
competitiveness of its members.
The forum and discussions brought together over 80 ministers and leaders from international organizations to exchange views on global food security, climate change, rational water resource management, and sustainable agricultural policies. Participants expressed a unified position on the urgent need to integrate advanced technologies into agriculture to ensure global food supply, sustainable production, and environmental protection.
