Mongolian Junior Swimmers Win 71 Medals

Ulaanbaatar, February 3, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian athletes won 71 medals at the “Asian Open Schools Invitational Championships Bangkok”, an international junior swimming competition held in Bangkok, Thailand.
11-year-old Margad Batzorig of the “We Aquatics” club not only improved his personal bests but also won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in individual events, as well as two silver and two bronze medals in relay races. Athletes from the “Khangarid” club of Erdenet won one gold, four silver, and five bronze medals, while the “Aquanex” club secured one gold and three bronze medals. Swimmers from the Water Sports Training Center under the Physical Culture and Sports Authority of Selenge aimag earned two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. The “Bella Vista” club won two gold, four silver, and one bronze medal, the Goviin Uschid “Gobi Swimmers” club claimed seven gold, five silver, and 14 bronze medals, and the “Kings of Ocean” club took seven silver and bronze medals.
The competition brought together over 1,100 athletes from 22 countries. Mongolia was represented by 69 swimmers from eight clubs. The event aims to provide school-age swimmers from Asian countries with international competitive experience, enhance athletic skills, foster team spirit, and promote cultural exchange, with champions determined in breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, freestyle relay, backstroke, and mixed team events.
