Speaker Uchral Meets EEC Board Chairman Sagintayev

/MONTSAME/. On the first day of his official visit to the Russian Federation,
on February 9, 2026, Speaker of the State Great Khural Uchral Nyam-Osor met
with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Bakhytzhan
Sagintayev.
At the outset of the meeting,
Speaker Uchral noted that deepening and developing friendly relations and
cooperation with EEC member countries, such as the Russian Federation, the
Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the
Kyrgyz Republic, is one of Mongolia’s foreign policy priorities. He also
highlighted that the Interim Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian
Economic Union (EAEU) had been ratified by the State Great Khural and handed
over the note verbale confirming the ratification of the agreement.
Speaker Uchral emphasized that, out
of the EAEU member states, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have ratified the
Interim Trade Agreement, which demonstrates that the parties are actively
working to ensure the agreement enters into force and is implemented as swiftly
as possible.
The speaker also noted that the
conclusion of the Interim Trade Agreement serves as an important foundation for
intensifying regional economic cooperation and strengthening stable supply
chains, and that during the period of the agreement’s validity, it is crucial to
achieve effective implementation and create favorable conditions that allow
businesses and citizens to benefit from the agreement in tangible ways. He
stressed the need to translate the provisions set out in the agreement into
concrete actions, eliminate discrepancies in customs and other standards, gradually
reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers, and establish mutually beneficial
conditions.

highlighted that, as part of the current visit, around 70 representatives from
more than 30 Mongolian enterprises are participating in a business discussion
on the Interim Trade Agreement. He also expressed confidence that each
provision and regulation contained in the agreement would be explained clearly
and in a practical manner, and that effective solutions would be proposed to
address the pressing issues faced by business operators.
Following the exchange of views, the two parties attended the opening of a business discussion on the Interim Trade Agreement organized by the Eurasian Economic Union for Mongolian enterprises and business representatives.
