Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Pays Courtesy Call on PM Zandanshatar

Ulaanbaatar, February 15, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, who chaired the 7th Strategic Dialogue at the level of Vice Foreign Ministers of China and Mongolia, on February 11, 2026.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Zandanshatar expressed his pleasure at the visit of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Sun Weidong, and asked him to convey his greetings on the occasion of the traditional Eastern holiday, the “Spring Festival,” to Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
He noted that in recent years, the Mongolia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been actively developing, the agreements reached at the level of the two countries’ heads of state and government, based on mutual trust, are being effectively implemented, and joint projects that bring tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries are moving forward. He emphasized that this serves as a model of mutually beneficial cooperation for neighboring countries.
Prime Minister Zandanshatar emphasized that Mongolia and China should foster cooperation in all sectors, based on the principles of mutual respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, and respect for each other’s chosen development paths. He also reaffirmed Mongolia’s firm support for the “One China” policy.
The prime minister further underlined the importance of maintaining the frequency of high-level visits and meetings, strengthening political mutual trust, deepening people-to-people friendship, and supporting each other on regional and international platforms. In this regard, he highlighted the significant role of cooperation between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs and congratulated the participants on the successful regular meeting.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Sun Weidong expressed his pleasure at paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Zandanshatar and conveyed greetings from Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of China. He stated that he was pleased to visit Mongolia, China’s eternal neighbor, and to successfully hold the 7th Strategic Dialogue at the level of Vice Foreign Ministers. He noted that the meeting was practical and productive, allowing the two sides to exchange views on the achievements in bilateral relations and cooperation as well as on future collaboration.
The vice minister emphasized that China pursues a foreign policy toward neighboring countries characterized by amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness, and that Mongolia holds an important place in China’s relations with its neighbors. He also expressed China’s readiness to align the objectives of its 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development with Mongolia’s five-year development policy priorities and to jointly advance projects and programs that will benefit the peoples of both countries.
