Mongolia Wins Silver, Bronze at Ice Climbing World Cup

Ulaanbaatar, February 23, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian athletes claim silver and bronze at the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup in Longmont, as the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation staged the competition in Colorado U.S.A.

 

International master Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar, Khеrlen Nyamdoo, Saikhanjargal Otgonbayar, and Selenge Nyamdoo represented team Mongolia at the third round of the 2025-2026 season. In the men's speed category, Mandakhbayar won a silver medal, while Kherlen secured a bronze. Sports master Saikhanjargal finished in 13th place. In the women’s speed category, international master Selenge placed 4th. The top three athletes in the men's speed event were separated by only 0.07 seconds. Mandakhbayar set a new record for the Longmont competition, completing the 14-meter-high wall in the speed event in just 5.47 seconds.

 

Additionally, Selenge Ch. and Selenge Nyamdoo also competed in the technical event. Previously, they had only participated in speed events -- testing their speed, strength, and agility. But this season, they planned to regularly compete in the technical category. The Mongolian athletes have earned one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal in the first three competitions of the 2025-2026 season. Now, the final World Cup series in Canada awaits.
