UNICEF Resident Representative Presents Credentials in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, February 23, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Beate Dastel, Resident Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), presented her credentials to State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav on February 23 and officially assumed her duties.
State
Secretary Munkhtushig highlighted UNICEF’s longstanding and valuable
contribution to Mongolia’s social and economic development goals, particularly
in advancing child development and protecting children’s rights. He expressed
satisfaction with the effective and consistent cooperation in improving
maternal and child health, expanding access to education, strengthening social
protection, and safeguarding the rights of vulnerable children.
Resident
Representative Beate Dastel reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to continuing the
successful implementation of projects and programs in Mongolia and expressed
readiness to further strengthen cooperation to ensure the well-being of
Mongolian children.
Beate Dastel is an Austrian national, specializing in international development and strategic planning. Before her appointment to Mongolia, she served as Resident Representative in Djibouti and previously as Deputy Resident Representative in Lao PDR and Bhutan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
