Mongolian Red Cross Society Expresses Commitment to Improving the Legal Environment

Ulaanbaatar, February 25, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Deputy Prime Minister Gankhuyag Khassuuri and relevant officials visited the Mongolian Red Cross Society to review its operations and develop proposals and conclusions regarding the implementation of the Law on Disaster Protection, increasing citizen participation in humanitarian activities, overcoming risks, strengthening community capacity, and providing the necessary assistance and support to reduce social vulnerability.
On this occasion, Secretary General Bolormaa Nordov of the Mongolian Red Cross Society introduced how community-based prevention training and awareness campaigns are organized, as well as how conditions are created to carry out humanitarian activities. The officials also familiarized themselves with the equipment, clothing, and supplies used in disaster risk reduction, prevention, protection, and recovery operations.
The Society further conveyed to the Deputy Prime Minister the types of legal support required to enhance public knowledge on disaster prevention, ensure preparedness, and carry out disaster protection and recovery activities within the legal framework.
Looking ahead, the Government and the Mongolian Red Cross Society expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation to reduce social vulnerability, prevent disasters, provide humanitarian assistance during emergencies, implement disaster response measures, ensure preparedness, deliver post-disaster recovery and psychosocial support services, and improve the legal environment governing such activities.
It is worth noting that this month, the Mongolian Red Cross Society has provided food assistance to a total of 300 households, including 250 herder households in Selenge and Tuv aimags, where the risk of dzud has been high, as well as 50 residents in Songinokhairkhan and Bayanzurkh districts.
