Demonstration Held at Sukhbaatar Square

Ulaanbaatar, January 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A demonstration, attended by hundreds of participants, was held on January 11, 2025, at Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar City, between 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Police called on the demonstrators to express their views peacefully.
Protesters held placards with slogans such as "Government Resign" and expressed their voices and positions, citing their reasons for demonstration that “The Government has failed to effectively address critical issues such as air pollution, traffic congestion, poverty, corruption, taxation, and unemployment.”
The demonstration was organized by the Freedom Coalition Party, which announced that it would continue the protests until January 22, 2025. Furthermore, the Party reported that they had submitted official letters to 33 Members of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, proposing a motion for the Government’s Resignation.
During the protest, demonstrators temporarily blocked the intersection near the Ulaanbaatar Central Post Office, which the police warned posed potential risks by hindering the emergency and disaster response services. Police reminded the organizers that permission for the demonstration had been given for the hours between 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM and called upon all participants to adhere to the relevant laws and regulations.
