Mongolian Judokas Secure Three Medals at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam

Ulaanbaatar, December 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The “Grand Slam” series was organized by the International Judo Federation from November 28 to 30, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where the Mongolian team placed fourth.
In the tournament, which brought
together top athletes from 52 countries, the Mongolian team of 15 judokas earned
one gold and two silver medals under the guidance of Honored Coach P.
Nyamlkhagva and Coach Ch. Boldbaatar. On the first day of the competition,
Honored Athlete Ariunbold Enkhtaivan won silver in the men's 60 kg division,
securing Mongolia’s first medal of the tournament. On the second day, Honored
Athlete Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo claimed the team’s second silver medal in the
women’s 63 kg division.
On November 30, the final day of
the tournament, International Master Gonchigsuren Batkhuyag won the gold medal
in the +100 kg category. Gonchigsuren defeated Estonia’s Karl Priilinn,
Russia’s junior world champion Denis Bachaev, Georgia’s young master Irakli
Demetrashvili, and Russia’s Olympic bronze medalist and world silver and bronze
medalist Tamirlan Bashaev. Since the World Championships, Gonchigsuren has now
won three consecutive tournaments: the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam, the Qingdao
Grand Prix, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. In addition to the three medalists,
International Master Narantsetseg Ganbaatar placed seventh in the women’s 48 kg
category, and Nominzul Dambadarjaa placed fifth in the +78 kg category.
Of the 52 countries participating
in the Abu Dhabi tournament, 26 earned medals, with 11 gold.
During the Grand Slam event, the
International Judo Federation’s Executive Board held its regular meeting in Abu
Dhabi, where the President of the Mongolian Judo Association, Battulga Khaltmaa,
was newly elected as a board member and appointed as Director of Training.
