Ulaanbaatar, January 12, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Summary of events for the week of January 12–18, 2026.


In Ulaanbaatar:

January 12: The Subcommittee on Education and Science will hold a meeting at the “Ikh Zasag” Hall of the State Palace to hear reports from representatives of the science sector on the implementation of current science policies and directions, the present condition of the sector, existing challenges, and necessary policy support, followed by an exchange of views.

January 12: The opening ceremony of the Investor Rights Protection Center will take place at the Ministry of Economy and Development.

January 12: The awards ceremony for the top players of the 2025–2026 Women’s Season of the National Premier League, organized by the Mongolian Basketball Federation, will be held at the M Bank Arena Ballroom.



January 13: Constitution Day will be observed.

January 13: A traditional wrestling tournament featuring 128 top-ranked wrestlers will be held in celebration of the 34th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution.



January 14: Within the framework of the 30th anniversary of the “Gamma” Photo Agency, Press Photographer’s Day will be organized for media professionals and documentary photographers.



January 15: The awards ceremony of the international competition “Best Mongol Calligrapher–2025”, organized by the Khumuun Bichig newspaper of MONTSAME Agency, will take place.

January 15: The presentation ceremony of “Collected Works I & II” by honored cultural worker, public educator, and poet Nyamaa L. will be held.

January 15: The opening of writer Tumenbayar Tserentulga's novel “The Blue Sword of Eternal Heaven” and the photo exhibition “Mongolian Writers” will take place at the new branch building of the Union of Mongolian Writers.

January 16–18: The 11th “Selenge League–2026” Sports Festival will be held at the Buyant-Ukhaa Sports Complex in five disciplines: basketball, volleyball, knuckle-bone shooting, chess, and table tennis.

January 17: The Golden Cup Wrestling Tournament, organized by the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation, will take place.

January 18: The Mongolian Sports Festival, organized by the Mongolian Sports Corporation, will begin.



Ongoing Nationwide Events:

2026 Military Registration continues nationwide through the E-Mongolia system until January 23, 2026.

The “Dream Ice Rink–2025” at the Central Stadium Complex will remain open until March 10, 2026.

The exhibition “Traditional Mongolian Clothing and Ornaments” is on display at the National Museum of Mongolia until February 2, 2026.

Submissions for the competition titled “Introducing Recycled PET Plastic Packaging for Food Use” will be accepted until February 2, 2026.



MONTSAME National News Agency is organizing the #AMINNUTAG video content competition among local media organizations, creators, and enthusiasts to promote, preserve, and pass on local history, cultural heritage, citizens’ livelihoods, characteristics, and traditions. Submissions will be accepted until March 1, 2026.


Local Events:

A campaign to promote cultural heritage is being conducted in 24 soums of Zavkhan aimag through February 10, 2026.


Events Abroad:

The exhibition “Horse of Fire, Horse of Start”, featuring artists from Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, is on display at the Eunam Museum of Art in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, until January 22, 2026.


The special exhibition “Mongolia: A Journey Through Time” is underway at the Rietberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, and will continue through February 26, 2026.
