Population growth of 61.6 thousand observed in 2018

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ According to the preliminary result, the population of the Mongolia reached 3.2 million persons at the end of 2018 and growth of 61.6 thousand persons (1.9 percent) observed from the previous year. In 2018, there were 78993 new born children (live births) at national level, of which 77528 children (live births) (98.1 percent) were born in Mongolia and 1465 children (live births) (1.9 percent) were born in abroad.

 

Compared with the previous year, number of new born children increased by 3259 (4.3 percent) and mortality increased by 1518 (9.6 percent). The crude birth rate and crude death rate per 1000 persons were 24.4 and 5.4 respectively, and natural increase rate per 1000 population was 19.0. Compared with the previous year, crude birth rate per 1000 persons was increased by 0.6 point, crude death rate per 1000 persons by 0.4 point and natural increase rate by 0.2 point.

 

Crude birth rate per 1000 persons in Ulaanbaatar city and Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Govisumber, Orkhon provinces were 1.5-3.4 points higher than the national average and crude birth rate per 1000 persons in other provinces were 0.2-12.3 points lower than the national average.
