Mongolian boxers and table tennis players qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian boxers M.Myagmarjargal and E.Tsendbaatar, who had been placed high in the world rankings, qualified for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. An Olympic qualification tournament which was scheduled in June by the International Boxing Association has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, a decision has been made to grant Olympic rights according to world rankings and 53 quotas have been given to each continent.


M.Myagmarjargal has earned the first quota place for the Olympic Games among Mongolian female boxers. Thus three Mongolian boxers will be partaking in the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The first boxing quota for Mongolia was earned by B.Chinzorig last year.


In addition, athletes of Mongolian national table tennis team B.Bolor-Erdene and E.Lkhagvasuren have been qualified for Tokyo Olympics.


The final Olympic Qualification Tournament was held by the International Table Tennis Federation in Doha, Qatar. Top athletes from more than 50 nations participated in the World Singles Qualification Tournament and IM E.Lkhagvasuren, sports master J.Munkhzorig, B.Doljinzuu and B.Bolor-Erdene competed in Southeast Asia section of the tournament
