Views exchanged on draft bill on political party

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Member of Parliament and Head of the Standing Committee on State Structure S.Byambatsogt yesterday met with delegates led by Fernando Vertoa, member of international experts’ team of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
Emphasizing that the Parliament adopted bills on amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia, Head of the Standing Committee S.Byambatsogt briefed the amendments related to political party.

Fernando Vertoa introduced the report that compiled recommendations issued
by the Institute and international good practices regarding the draft bill on
Political Party being developed by the Standing Committee and shared his views
on registration of political parties, financial support to be given from the state
budget, donation and assistance of citizens and organizations, its reporting,
monitoring and responsibility mechanism that are reflected in the draft bill.
At the end of the meeting, S.Byambatsogt expressed to pay attention on reflecting the recommendations received from the institute and good practices of other countries in the draft bill. Furthermore, he cited that they are striving to have the law that creates conditions for political parties to be accountable, define their policies at the national level and carry responsibility and duty on it, make sources of funding and income and their spending transparent to public as well as to avoid from conflict of interest and corruption.
