Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The State Central First Hospital has opened an inpatient and outpatient pharmacy or hospital ambulatory pharmacy for the first time in Mongolia.

The average medication consumption of citizens who are being served by hospital is estimated to be MNT 30 thousand. According to a resolution issued by the General Authority for Health Insurance, 40 percent of the medication price is covered from the Health Insurance Fund and citizens have possibility to buy medications at the preferential price here. The pharmacy is serving citizens through four windows with eight professional pharmacists.

During the opening event, Director General of the Hospital T.Munkhsaikhan said that the ambulatory of our hospital renders services to 2500 people a day. 80-90 percent of these customers get prescription from physician. State hospitals do not have their own pharmacies and private pharmaceutical companies run operation in the hospitals. Prior to the opening of this type of pharmacy, it was required customers to get prescription from physicians obligingly coming to their family health center or district hospital in order to purchase medications at preferential price. But now, this kind of service has become close to citizens and also financially supportive to them."

The hospital has been fully digitized and it means the pharmacists will give medication to customers under the prescription given by the hospital physician as checking it online.
